Ski Mountaineering Tours in Alaska

All Ascending Path trips are permitted through the Chugach National Forest & State Parks.

These skiing expeditions require prior skiing experience; please contact us for details. Expeditions include: transport from Anchorage, 4:1 (climber to guide) ratio, group gear, and food.

The Eklutna Traverse, Chugach Mountains

The "ET" is the favorite glacier traverse for Anchorage ski mountaineers. Over five days we will make a complete crossing of the Chugach Mountains on a glacial corridor. Along the way, we can enjoy the skiing and focus on the navigating the two technical sections: getting onto the Eklutna Glacier and the Raven Headwall. If time and energy allow, we will make runs above our camp sites.
Included in the cost of this Trip is annual membership with The Mountaineering Club of Alaska. While the Eklutna Traverse huts are state owned, the MCA maintains them and we work together to ensure this valuable resource is taken care of and respected .

The Bomber Traverse, Talkeetna Mountains

The Bomber Traverse is another classic that takes us on a turning tour through the jagged Talkeetna Mountains. By staying in tents near the existing hut system, we utilize the traditional line and enjoy this dramatic route.

These 1-5 day excursions give advanced alpine skiers the knowledge needed for skiing in the backcountry.
The courses will cover weather and avalanche forecasting, setting a solid and efficient skin track,
evaluating snow stability, and practicing the industry standard travel techniques. For multi-day courses,
we have the option of staying out and practicing winter camping skills.

These courses are geared toward advanced alpine skiers who want to learn the safest backcountry travel skills.
Participants need to supply their own backcountry gear (see gear list). All methods will be taught at a national
standard set by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and American Institute for Avalanche
Research and Education (AIARE). About your Guide: Joe Stock

All guests should be moderately fit, able to hike for a few hours and ski the North Face at Alyeska
Resort. Guests will be required to fill out an Adventure Application and sign our waiver

We Guide and Teach to the standards of the American Mountain Guides Association.
